Assuris Key Stakeholders

Assuris recognizes the importance of proactive collaboration and cooperation and effectively working with our key stakeholders.

Policyholders

Assuris is focused on raising consumer awareness through engagement with financial advisors and member companies, and we use social media and digital campaigns to direct traffic to our website.

Regulators / Government / Resolution Authorities

Assuris is the expert authority for life and health insurance resolution in Canada, and we work together with federal and provincial government authorities to solve problems in a crisis. We also interact with foreign supervisors, resolution authorities, and policyholder protection plans to share best practices in resolution planning and better understand cross-border resolution issues.

Member Companies

Assuris seeks to minimize both the financial and reputational costs of failure for the industry. We do so by engaging with member companies on policyholder protection and resolution funding, industry risk issues and advance resolution planning. Our Industry Advisory Committee provides an important link between the Assuris Board of Directors and the industry.

Industry Partners

To be ready for resolution, Assuris needs strong relationships with resolution advisors (e.g. insolvency professionals and legal, accounting, actuarial and communications experts), other consumer protection organizations in Canada, and industry associations, such as the Canadian Life and Health Industry Association. Industry partners are important relationships that allow us to share knowledge and build our capabilities, as well as effectively execute and coordinate our response to a Member insolvency.
