Please read the following terms and conditions (“Terms and Conditions”) carefully before using this site. You should review the conditions of use regularly as they may change at any time. References to “you” or “your” shall mean the person accessing or using this site. References to the “Assuris”, “we”, “us” or “our” shall mean Canadian Life and Health Insurance Compensation Corporation and its subsidiary.

Limited Licence

Assuris grants you, upon agreeing with these Terms and Conditions, a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable, limited licence to enter and use the Assuris website.

Assuris either owns or is the licensee of all intellectual property rights in the text, graphics, logos, audio clips, video clips, interfaces, software or computer code on the Assuris website, including any translations into other languages (“Content”). All rights are reserved.

The Content of this site is protected by copyright. Except as provided in these Terms and Conditions, you must first obtain our express written consent and comply with any terms and conditions we specify relating to that use before publishing, displaying or otherwise using any Content in any form or media. Social Media

All links to social media platforms are Assuris’ property. The information provided on Assuris’ social media platforms are informational and should not replace the advice of a professional. Any information provided on Assuris’ social media platforms are current as of the date posted and may change without notice. Assuris may not monitor and respond to all social media posts.

Assuris invites you to use its social media channels to learn more about who we are and what we do. We also invite your questions and comments, provided they do not contain personal or financial information. However, we ask you to respect the Terms and Conditions and the Website Privacy Policy.

We recognize that all Canadians have the right to free speech and that social media channels are equally accessible to all. The Terms and Conditions do not seek to unduly restrict individuals’ use of our social media channels. We request that you always use appropriate language.

We encourage you to engage in honest discussion, and we reserve the right to delete erroneous comments or contributions that are not in keeping with the Terms and Conditions.

Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, we reserve the right to delete any comment or content that:

  • is otherwise deemed unacceptable by Assuris.

We reserve the right to ban users having posted in violation of the above rules.

Comments posted by users are their own personal views and in no way reflect the opinion of Assuris, its directors, officers, employees, representatives, members or business partners.

Assuris’ social media channels are monitored Monday to Friday during regular business hours, Eastern Time. Messages, questions and comments received outside of these hours will be answered the following business day.

Official Languages

Many social media platforms have multiple language options and provide instructions on how to set your preferences. Assuris respects the Official Languages Act and is committed to ensuring that our information is available in both French and English and that both versions are of equal quality.

We reply to comments in the official language in which they are posted. If we think the response is a question of general public interest, we may respond in both official languages.

We may share links that direct users to sites of organizations or other entities that are not subject to the Official Languages Act and available only in the language(s) in which they are written. When content is available in only one language, we make an effort to provide similar content in the other official language.

Breach of the Terms and Conditions

If Assuris determines that you have breached the Terms and Conditions, Assuris may pursue any and all available remedies available to it, in any combination. These remedies include termination of your access to the website, with or without notice.

Any breach of the Terms and Conditions may cause irreparable harm to Assuris for which monetary damages would be inadequate. Assuris may seek, in addition to the other remedies available to us, any injunctive or equitable relief that we deem appropriate, without needing to post a judicial bond.


You will indemnify Assuris and their respective directors, officers, employees, contractors, agents and other representatives against all claims, demands, damages, losses, fines, expenses (including all legal fees and costs) and/or any other type of liability (collectively, “Claims”) to the extent the Claim is caused by (1) your breach of these Terms and Conditions, and/or (2) your use of the Assuris website. We may, in our sole discretion, assume the exclusive defence and control of any Claim otherwise subject to this indemnification by you. Even if we assume the defence of a Claim, you will remain responsible for the payment of the Claim, and you will cooperate as fully as reasonably required by us in the defence of any Claim.

Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions and all disputes or other matters arising out of your use of the Assuris website will be governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the applicable laws of Canada, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any dispute will be dealt with solely by a court of competent jurisdiction in Canada or such other location as the parties may expressly agree.
